Westington village green & Victorian lamp post
An idyllic village green in Westington, just outside Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire.
During the height of the Arts & Crafts Movement, the Guild of Handicraft, led by architect and designer Charles Robert Ashbee, settled in and around Chipping Campden where they produced high their quality furniture, metalwares, books and other decorative arts items. Whilst the experiment was short-lived, they revived this rural community, restoring the dilapidated houses and cottages in which they lived to their former glory. Much of what remains of Chipping Campden's glorious architecture today is thanks to the Guild's restorations.
