Rib-vaulted Gothic undercroft
The 13th century, Cotswold stone, rib-vaulted Chapter House at Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire. The abbey was converted into a grand country house notable additions thankfully being largely in the Gothick Revival style of the early 19th century which so suited the original building. Its most famous occupant was William Henry Fox Talbot, one of the pioneers of photography. One of the upper rooms serves as a museum to his work. In recent years, the abbey has become familiar to millions of young 'Harry Potter' fans as the location of 'Hogwarts'.
