Bluebells surround the decaying stump of an ancient tree
Native English bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) surround the deeply fissured, decaying stump of an ancient tree in Southrey Wood, Lincolnshire.
The Lincolnshire Limewoods are scattered remnants of ancient woodland, the largest area of woodland dominated by Small-leaved Lime in Britain. The species was thought to have been introduced to Britain but is now considered to have been native.
