Hatfield House through a tree canopy in early Summer
Hatfield House from the orchard, framed by a canopy of fresh green tree leaves, with cow parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris) growing at the base of the hedge.
Hatfield House is a Jacobean manor house with an earlier Medieval / Tudor Old Palace, the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth I. Both houses are famed for their wonderful formal gardens. Hatfield House has its own significant church and an array of period estate buildings. Surrounding the house is an ancient wood (once a royal hunting forest) and orchard from where this image was taken.
