Eigg & Rum from Mallaig across a silver sea
The 'Small Isles' of Eigg and Rum seen as blue silhouettes across a silver sea from the rocky shore at Mallaig in the late evening on Midsummer's Day.
The Lochaber shore consists of mainly metamorphic rocks, chiefly Psammite and Pelite, with some Dolerite dykes. Around Mallaig, Lewisian Gneiss outcrops as does the shimmering Mica-Schist seen in the foreground of the image.
